Islamabad: Youth mental Health Committee at Tameer Chapter organized a webinar on AI and Mental Health. This two-segment, expert-led session brought together psychological and artificial intelligence perspectives to help participants use AI ethically, mindfully, and without compromising critical thinking.

In the first segment of the session, Dr. Wardah Ishfaq (PhD Psychology, Assistant Professor & Senior Clinical Psychologist, STMU) shared valuable insights on:

The basics of using AI tools within mental health contexts
โ€ข How AI can reduce cognitive load and enhance productivity
โ€ข The role of AI in supporting learning, skill development, and confidence building
โ€ข An overview of AI applications in psychology
โ€ข How people are starting to treat AI like it has human feelings and personality (anthropomorphism)
โ€ข The possible negative effects of depending too much on AI
โ€ข How constant AI use may influence our brainโ€™s adaptability (neuroplasticity)
โ€ข Why overuse of AI is slowly becoming a psychological concern, not just a tech issue
โ€ข Brain areas that may be affected by overdependence on AI
โ€ข Youth perspectives; how young people view and use AI in their daily lives
โ€ข Practical strategies to protect ourselves from AI-related health challenges

In the second segment of the webinar, Dr. Raja Habib discussed insights on the ethical use of AI, its basic definition, the layers of AI and machine learning models and understanding AI the right way, with awareness and responsibility.

This webinar was a reminder that AI works best when guided by human intention and critical thought.
